This Privacy Policy explains how Red Thread Design Studio ("we," "us," "our") handles information on Choosto, at choosto.com.
Choosto is a free interactive story app for children ages 3 to 8. There is no sign-up and no payment. Each story is a set of choices that change how the story goes, with audio narration. It is made to be used together with a parent or caregiver.
We do not ask children to give us any personal information. The only way we collect personal information is if an adult chooses to contact us, as explained below.
What information we collect
Contact form. If you use our contact form at choosto.com/contact, we collect the name, email address, subject, and message you type in. This goes straight to our email inbox at redthread.adcs@gmail.com so we can reply to you. We do not store it anywhere else.
Automatic technical information. Like most websites, our hosting and security tools automatically see some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type. This is used only to run the site safely (for example, to block bots) and is not linked to your name.
Website analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit Choosto, which pages they open, and which countries they come from. This tool does not use cookies and does not track individual visitors. More details are in our Cookie Policy.
On your own device. The app remembers small preferences, like whether you muted the sound, using your browser's own storage on your device. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. The read-aloud voice also runs in your browser and is never sent to us.
Cookies
Choosto uses a small number of essential cookies needed to run the site safely. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
How we use information
We use the information above only to reply to contact form messages, keep the site secure, and see overall, non-personal usage trends so we can improve Choosto. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers to run Choosto: our hosting provider, Cloudflare (for security and cookie-free analytics), and Google (to send contact form emails to our inbox). They only process information as needed to provide their service to us.
Where information is processed
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States.
How long we keep information
We keep contact form emails in our inbox for as long as we need them to answer you. We do not keep any other personal information.
Children's privacy
Choosto is designed for children ages 3 to 8 to use together with a parent or caregiver. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you are a parent or caregiver and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us at redthread.adcs@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask what information we have about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at redthread.adcs@gmail.com or choosto.com/contact.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
